The five Canvass Board members in each of Colorado’s 64 counties are probably the least well-known people involved in the election process, yet they carry the weight of verifying for Colorado’s voters, candidates, and issue committees that the results of each election, as calculated by the County Clerks, are correct. Each Canvass Board is made up of the county clerk and two representatives from each of the majority parties. Their duties for the 2020 primary will most likely commence the week of July 13th or earlier.

I hope that you will read and consider the following information.  To ensure that the bureaucrats running the elections are not the ones deciding the future of this state, please advise your Canvass Board members that it is their job to verify election integrity for all eligible voters.  They should not simply review the clerk’s documents and sign the important certificate that is put in front of them. Your political party's County Chairman will know the Canvass Board members in your county.

I submit to you that Colorado’s current election system of sending ballots, unsolicited, to potential voters throughout the state and expecting only honest electors to vote them is foolish at best, and at worst, it shows evil intent.

I am the Republican candidate for State Senate District 18, and if I am elected to this office, I intend to work towards the repeal of all election laws that go against the Colorado Constitution, Article VII Section 11, Purity of elections. The general assembly shall pass laws to secure the purity of elections, and guard against abuses of the elective franchise.

As the Chairman of the Boulder County Republicans (BCR) from 2015 to 2019, our Election Integrity Team's major concerns about Colorado's elections were verifying that they (1) have integrity, (2) are able to prove they have that integrity, and (3) are perceived and acknowledged by the public as having that integrity. We believe integrity means (1) every person who is legally entitled to vote is allowed to vote - and no others are allowed to vote, and (2) every legitimate vote proffered is delivered to the County Clerk's office intact and counted correctly - and no others are counted.

What follows are a series of documents, most of which were sent by the BCR Election Integrity Team to each Colorado Republican County Chairman prior to the Canvass Board meetings for the 2018 general election. We hoped that by showing the difficulties of verifying the “Purity of elections,” other counties would join Boulder County in thoroughly scrutinizing their elections, and ultimately put pressure onto the clerks, and in turn the legislature and Secretary of State, to correct this very problematic election process. The 2018 general elections were mostly rubberstamped. But we need not continue that trend. Perhaps if Canvass Board members were more concerned with the citizen’s demands for integrity than they are with the election official’s demands to rush the process, some big changes could be made to verify the elections and bring integrity back to Colorado.

With the political rhetoric of both parties shifting so far left that the future of the Republic is in doubt, it behooves us to prove to the electorate that this shift is truly what the voters want – or not.
